We took to the field today without Josh and Emmanuel, both sidelined with injuries—we hope you’re back fit and firing soon, boys!

A comfortable win to close out the regular league season, keeping our slim hopes of a second-place playoff alive.

Despite strong winds, we were never in danger of dropping points. While we lacked some of our usual intensity and ruthlessness, we played with a relaxed confidence, often moving the ball beautifully through the thirds.

Our opening goal came early in the first half when Henry finished well after Isaac nodded on a high through ball. This gave us momentum despite playing against the wind. The midfield and defense did well to find Isaac’s feet, and his tidy hold-up play linked effectively with supporting runs from Theo, Henry, Ernie, Jett, and Archie. However, despite our attacking intent, we went into halftime with just the one-goal lead.

With Emmanuel unavailable, we rested Isaac at the break and switched to a formation with Henry and Theo as wide forwards. The change paid off quickly—Henry latched onto a forward ball at the halfway line, cut inside, and struck at goal, but it was Theo who reacted brilliantly to fire home before the keeper could intervene following a lung busting run from his own half.

We continued to play some lovely football before Rushcliffe pulled one back with a well-struck consolation goal, making for a tense final three minutes. The Reds were unlucky not to keep a clean sheet, with Jesse, Oz, and Noah solid throughout. Nonetheless, we held firm for a well-earned victory.

The boys enjoyed themselves, putting in a strong performance without quite hitting top gear. Now, we keep our fingers crossed for that playoff spot!
